10 Kitchens to Make You Fall In Love With Black Faucets

I'll admit, I'm a sucker for trends. Something new, something unexpected and I can't wait to get in on it. I also like continuity, especially when it comes to my home and those details that aren't practical (or financially responsible) to be changing with each new trend. Hardware, door handles, faucets, light fixtures all require a bit more commitment than say, the throw pillows on your sofa. You can see my dilemma.

However, the matte black trend in kitchen faucets and even cabinet hardware has more staying power. Why? Because black goes with everything! There's no need to fret over brushed chrome or even brass door handles not matching. The black can stand alone without clashing.

Paint it Black

You may have noticed a theme in my recent posts... outdoors! It has definitely warmed up here in Texas and spending time outdoors is on the mind. Right now, my favorite outside space is my front porch. It's private, shaded and I can sip coffee and watch the kids play in the yard. Can't ask for much more than that, right?

A major focal point of any front porch or home exterior is the front door. If you want to make a statement, a black front door will do it! It's bold, modern and dramatic. Best of all, a little edgy. Below are some of my favorite raven-colored entrances.

Casita and Pool in Austin, TX

A family in Austin, TX turned their unremarkable backyard into a modern outdoor haven. The design included a pool and a small casita to provide additional living space. Inside, the casita features a kitchenette, sleeping loft, bathroom and a light-filled double-height living area.

This project sums up completely my current house goals. I especially appreciate the small pool to illustrate what is possible in a small or challenging yard space.
